that enables you convert bulk DVD files to GIF at a time. The software is
fully compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is DVD?
DVD is an optical disc storage format, invented and developed by Philips,
Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic in 1995. The subtitle tracks are contained
within the VOB file of the DVD. Almost all DVD-Video discs use the UDF
bridge format, which is a combination of the DVD MicroUDF (a subset of
UDF 1.02) and ISO 9660 file systems. One of the best features of DVD drives
is that they are backward-compatible with CD-ROMs, meaning they can play
old CD-ROMs, CD-I disks, and video CDs, as well as new DVD-ROMs. VOB files
are a very strict subset of the MPEG program stream standard. Commercial
DVD movies are encoded using a combination of MPEG-2 compressed video and
audio of varying formats (often multi-channel formats as described below).
A similar standard exists in countries using the NTSC system, though with
no requirement mandating the use of or support for the MP2 format. DVD-Video
discs respectively refer to properly formatted and structured video content.
It uses MPEG-2 for video compression, with AC-3, DTS or MPEG audio for
multi-channel audio support. In countries using the PAL system standard
DVD-Video releases must contain at least one audio track using the PCM,
MP2, or AC-3 format, and all standard PAL players must support all three
of these formats. DVD-Video discs have a raw bitrate of 11.08 Mbit/s, with
a 1.0 Mbit/s overhead, leaving a payload bitrate of 10.08 Mbit/s. Of this,
up to 3.36 Mbit/s can be used for subtitles and a maximum of 9.80 Mbit/s
can be split amongst audio and video. Subtitles are usually intended as
a visual help for the deaf and hearing impaired and for translating dialogs.
MPEG-1 video allows 352 * 288 pixels at 25 frame/s, progressive (Same as
the VCD Standard), 352 * 240 pixels at 29.97 frame/s, progressive (Same
as the VCD Standard).
What is GIF?
GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is a creation of CompuServe and is used
to store multiple bitmap images in a single file for exchange between platforms
and systems. In terms of number of files in existence, GIF is perhaps the
most widely used format for storing multibit graphics and image data. Even
a quick peek into the graphics file section of most BBSs and file archives
seems to prove this true. Many of these are high-quality images of people,
landscapes, cars, astrophotographs, and anthropometric gynoidal data (you
guess what that is). Shareware libraries and BBSs are filled with megabytes
of GIF images. GIF images are compressed using the Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW)
lossless data compression technique to reduce the file size without degrading
the visual quality. This compression technique was patented in 1985. Controversy
over the licensing agreement between the software patent holder, Unisys,
and CompuServe in 1994 spurred the development of the Portable Network
Graphics (PNG) standard. All the relevant patents have now expired. Gif
images are great for creating very low resolution files for your website.
They support transparency, which is great. Transparency allows you to place
the gif over any color background or even photos, and you won't see a border
or background in the image. All you will see is the icon. You typically
use a gif for simple logos, icons, or symbols. Using a gif for photos is
not recommended, because gifs are limited to 256 colors. In some cases
you can use even less. The less colors that are in your image, the smaller
your file size will be. Gif files also support a feature called interlacing,
which preloads the graphic. It starts out blurry and becomes focused and
crisp when it is finished downloading. This makes the transition for your
viewer easier, and they don't have to wait as long to see logos or icons
on your site. Gifs also support animation. Gifs don't support the level
of animation that Flash files do, but it still allows you to add movement
or transitions to your site, without a lot of programming or coding. More
advanced web designers and developers tend to use jQuery to create animated
effects. Gif files are also compressed, which gives them a small file size.
